“Adi Shankaracharya was an Indian philosopher and theologian whose works have a strong influence on the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta.

 

He travelled across the Indian subcontinent to propagate his philosophy through discourses and debates with other thinkers. He has written great commentaries on several Vedic Texts e.g., Brahma Sutras, Principal Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita… etc. He has advanced the philosophy of Advaita Vedanta in which he proved the unity of Ātman and Nirguna Brahman "brahman without attributes," and he criticised the ritually-oriented Mīmāṃsā school of Hinduism.”
