This coming Full Moon on 13th July 2022 is special. It is the Full Moon dedicated to our Gurus, so we call it GURU PURNIMA.
NOTE: PURNIMA = full Moon
Every year we celebrate GURU PURNIMA on the FULL MOON DAY in the Hindu Lunar Month of Asadha (June-July). This day is dedicated to honouring our Gurus or Teachers.
Guru = GU (darkness or ignorance) + RU (remover) = a Guru is the ONE who removes the darkness of our ignorance
A Guru is the most necessary part our life, and we all need to honour and respect our teachers (Gurus).
In our birth horoscope, 9th H of our horoscope represents our GURUS. 9th H is also the house of LUCK, OPTIMISM, FAITH, and HIGHER KNOWLEDGE. Jupiter and Sun are natural KARAKAS (significators) of 9th H for our TEACHERS and FATHER respectively. Among planets, Jupiter is also the Karaka of LUCK, OPTIMISM, FAITH, and HIGHER KNOWLEDGE.
So it is obvious that if we have the blessings of having a good teacher and we respect our teacher, then we also experience better results in our life related to LUCK, OPTIMISM, FAITH, and HIGHER KNOWLEDGE.
Interestingly, every year on GURU PURNIMA Day, full MOON is placed in the Sagittarius sign and in the Purva Asadha Nakshatra. We all know that Sagittarius is the 9th H of the natural zodiac and Sagittarius is owned by Jupiter (the Karaka of teachers).
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS DAY

At the end, I will like to quote a very famous mantra devoted to Guru
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा
गुरुर्विष्णु गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरा
गुरुर्साक्षात परब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः
II
Gurur
Brahma Gurur Vishnu
Gurur Devo Maheshwarah
Guru Saakshaata Parabrahma
Tasmai Shri Guruve Namaha
MEANING of this mantra
Guru signifies
Brahma, the God as CREATOR
Guru signifies Vishnu, the God as SUSTAINER
Guru signifies Shiva, the God as DESTROYER
Guru is therefore the personification of the supreme God (because He shows us
the path to Light)
We bow to this Guru
