12th House - My Random Thoughts

12^th house is the house of expenditure and losses; it is the house of distant remote places; it is also the house of liberation, meditation and transcendental experience; it is house of addictions too; it also represents loneliness; it is also the house of sleep and bed-pleasure (sexual union), and 12^th house is one of the most spiritual houses.

The highest level of liberation from bondages naturally involves loss, sometimes, total loss.

 

Sex (often performed in lonely privacy of the bed room) is also loss of vitality and individual identity, during orgasm we feel like being in meditation also - so sex can also lead to spiritual experiences.

 

Intoxication similarly helps us to get disconnected from the physical realm and creates possibility to connect to another realm. That is why many sadhus smoke marijuana.

 

When we go away to a distant land, that is also a kind of disconnection.... that may give loneliness, and may inspire us to meditate and rise spiritually.

Similarly sleep and dream.

 

But a word of caution:

 

The liberation from bonds can lead to highest spiritual evolution OR it can lead to a state of uncontrolled behaviour that violates all norms of society.

 

So, unless properly regulated, an active 12th H may give addiction to too much of intoxication, senseless-sex, drugs, uncivilized behaviour... etc.

This post was my "random thoughts" on the 12th house... I do not mean to disregard the importance of other houses that also play a role in actual working of the 12th house

"4^th H - 8^th H - 12^th H" together form a Trine of houses that are very important for our spiritual evolution...

 

9^th H also plays a role... as our gurus come from the 9th house...

5th house is also important... as all spiritual evolution requires us to be devoted to our cause, and we also need to have the immense ability to love...

 

And last but not the least... the 1^st house (the person) is also Very important.
